Purposeful play for teams ready to act.

Most team development asks people to describe how they work. We hand them something and ask them to build it—and a team that constructs its own communication breakdown out of bricks will say things it never said in a meeting. You leave with agreements your team wrote themselves, and we come back to see whether they held.

Three Lives: An Odyssey Plan Workshop
$35.00

Tuesday, September 29
6:30-8:00 pm
Three Nations Brewery, Carrollton TX

Many of us carry something around for years without ever putting it on paper. Opening a restaurant in Spain. Writing the sci-fi book. Going back for the degree in something you actually love. The thing you bring up at dinner and then don't think about again for six months.

You’re invited to make your first move, at Three Nations Brewing.

It's an exercise called the Odyssey Plan, from Stanford's Design Your Life. You map three different versions of your next five years — not the one you're already on, three real alternatives — and you leave with them written down, plus a first step you can actually take.

I've run this with executives, with students, and with people in the middle of a career change. What surprises people isn't which plan they pick. It's how fast a life they'd been calling impossible turns out to have a next step.

Half- or full-day

Most teams have people who know exactly what's needed and don't say it. This session gets that into the open.

Using LEGO® Serious Play, your team defines what confidence actually looks like here — not in the abstract, but in this room, with these people. They name who models it, how they recognize it, and what conditions let them do their best work.

Then they design the rituals that make it stick. Teams leave with specific commitments, individual and shared, and a way to check whether they held.

Delivered at SMU's Business Leadership Center, where it won recognition for being exceptionally rated three years in a row , and commissioned by Children’s Medical Center, YPO, Chick Fil-A, and ARCO/Murray.

Two half-day sessions, or one full day

Every team has something it isn't saying. Usually not because people are avoiding it — because nobody has found the words, or the moment, or a way to raise it that doesn't sound like a complaint.

The first session finds it. Using LEGO® Serious Play, your team builds the thing that's actually in the way and looks at it together. What gets named in ninety minutes is often something people have been carrying for months.

The second session turns it into behavior. Your team agrees on what trust looks like here specifically, and defines the small habits they'll change starting Monday. Not values on a wall — three or four things people will actually do differently.

Built originally for a clinical team navigating cross-cultural communication across shifts and departments. Works anywhere people are working alongside each other without quite working together.

A program. Four to eight weeks.

Most professional development happens in a room and stays there. This doesn't.

Participants start with data about themselves — values, strengths, and how they actually prefer to solve problems. Then they build three different versions of the next five years using the Odyssey Plan, an exercise from Stanford's Design Your Life. Not the path they're already on. Three real alternatives, each with a timeline and an honest cost.

From there it narrows. Everything gets distilled into a prioritized list of the people and organizations worth their attention — and then they go talk to them. Informational interviews. Job shadows. Real conversations with people already doing the thing they're considering.

That last part is the point. Insight without action is a good afternoon. This program is built so nobody finishes it without having done something in the world.

Where it fits
Universities and workforce programs preparing people for what's next. Companies running internal mobility or leadership pipelines. Any group of people facing a transition they haven't named yet.

Built originally for business students. Adapts to veterans, career changers, and mid-career professionals figuring out what they want.
