Color: Columbus, Indiana (Issue No. 1)

$27.95

I visited Columbus, Indiana because of a movie. Then I couldn’t find a single coloring book at the Visitors Center, so I drew one.

COLOR is a coloring book series for the cities that earn devoted followings: smaller places with outsized souls, where architecture, design, and everyday life exist in rare conversation with each other. Columbus is where it begins.

Inside you’ll find eighteen hand-drawn landmarks, drawn over the course of a year from my own photographs, reference images, and memory.

  • The Saarinen church, the Miller House, and the Commons

  • Zaharakos Ice Cream Parlor and the Inn at Irwin Gardens

  • The library, the bridges, and Chaos I

Each drawing sits on its own page, with a blank page behind it, and a hand-illustrated map at the front shows where to find them in person.

Details

  • 8 x 10 inches, paperback, 48 pages

  • Full-color matte cover, black-and-white interior

  • 18 original illustrations, each with the architect and year

  • Written and illustrated by Nicole Haddad, ArtWorks Press

Coloring tips: water-based markers (Tombow Dual Brush works beautifully), colored pencils, and gel pens all do well. Alcohol markers can bleed through, so slip a sheet of cardstock behind the page you’re coloring.

Small art & architecturally-driven cities. Drawn by hand.
